Jin Dynasty (A.D. 1115-1234)

of shallow form with wide flat rim, covered overall with a bright lavender-blue glaze draining to buff color on the upturned lip and around the angle of the well, the thick glaze continuing over the shallow foot and across the base, with five spur marks on the base.

Diameter 6 34 inches (17.2 cm)

A similar dish from the Collection of Mrs. Alfred Clark is illustrated by Gray, Early Chinese Pottery and Porcelain, London, 1952, pl. 84. Another example of similar form is illustrated in The Charles B. Hoyt Collection in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Vol. II, Boston, 1972, no. 54; and another is illustrated by Ayers, The Seligman Collection of Oriental Art, Vol. II, London, 1964, no. D91, pl. XXXIII. Compare also the Jun dish illustrated in Chinese Ceramics in the Idemitsu Collection, Tokyo, 1987, no. 495, and two Jun dishes of this shape in the Illustrated Catalogue of Sung Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum: Ju Ware, Kuan Ware, Chun Ware, Taipei, 1973, pls. 79 and 80.
